The crux of the article is that natrual supplements that claim to have estrogenic activity (i.e. phytoestrogens) do not prevent bone loss as well as actual estrogens - something we've known for a long time. Their statement that estrogen therapy is, "no longer recommended for the long term because of links to stroke, embolism and breast cancer" is boilerplate FDA language that fails to distinguish the difference between bioidentical hormones and synthetic ones.
