It's long been known that a lack of sleep is related to weight issues, whether it's that you are chronically fatigued and tend to eat more fattening foods (been there, even now if I have a bout of poor sleep I crave carbs, cookies in particular), or that you are too tired to exercise. Now there is evidence that the better you sleep, the less effect your genetics have on your weight. Very interesting, and could be an important tool in society's effort (and medicine's) to slim down the population. Good sleep has a beneficial effect on the body in so many ways!
