Good morning from sunny but chilly NC! Check out this article from USAToday ----- researchers have confirmed a genetic link to the age at which a woman enters menopause. It has long been said that one way to know when you will enter menopause is to ask your mother when she entered hers, and this research seems to bear that out.
It's not an absolute, and for many women, their mothers had hysterectomies at an early age so that she doesn't know at what age she would have entered menopause naturally. This "ask your mother" issue was a topic of discussion a couple years back amongst my friends ---- 7 of us, ranging in age from about 43 to 69 were having lunch, and amongst the group, only one woman still had her uterus, and she was the oldest member of the group!
