Menopause Mondays: Exploring Bio-Identical Hormones
If you are not already receiving the Shmirsky weekly newsletter, go to the site and sign up, there's some very good information in it about menopausal issues. Today's post is about bioidentical hormones, a brief interview with Dr. Judith Rubin of CA (now WA State) ------ a leader in the field of bioidentical hormones. I was so thrilled to hear that she is part of a team that will create and publish a randomized prospective placebo-controlled trial on bio-identical hormones. Much research has been done on the subject, but nearly all of it out of the country, as it is very hard to get funding for these very expensive studies (the pharmaceutical industry is certainly not going to pay to study something they cannot patent and "worse" yet, may cut their profits).
