Many factors contibute to low vitamin D
Now, you KNEW I would have a Vitamin D article sometime around now----after all, tomorrow is the first day of winter (such as it is here in NC) and also the shortest day of the year (yay----starting Tuesday, the days get longer!). Now i can get that Vitamin D deficiency can lead to Rickets, Osteomalacia, and Osteoporosis. People who are exposed to normal quantities of sunlight do not need vitamin D supplements because sunlight promotes sufficient vitamin D synthesis in the skin. Today, Many societies around the world wore more clothing over the centuries, further reducing skin exposure to sunlight. These changes have brought with them a significant reduction in the natural production of vitamin D and subsequent diseases.
