In my opinion, this catchy phrase (deficiency of drugs i.e. antidepressants) attempts to make a complex treatment issue into a simplistic one. In the end, it may work to the disadvantage of BHRT acceptance. I realize that too many women are first prescribed antidepressants instead of hormone replacement/balancing. However, I know that I am not alone in my need for balanced hormones AND antidepressant therapy. We can respect the individual needs of every woman which could very well include the need for mental health support and medication during midlife transition.
