Estrogen Supplements Not As Effective As Claimed
This is important reading, because many peri/menopausal women are taking supplements (sometimes expensive supplements) that may or may not be effective. It's something to be aware of----especially in this economy when money is tight for so many. Click here to read more from RedOrbit.

ReplyDeleteThe title of this article from red orbit is a little misleading. The crux of the article is that natrual supplements that claim to have estrogenic activity (i.e. phytoestrogens) do not prevent bone loss as well as actual estrogens - something we've known for a long time. Their statement that estrogen therapy is, "no longer recommended for the long term because of links to stroke, embolism and breast cancer" is boilerplate FDA language that fails to distinguish the difference between bioidentical hormones and synthetic ones. There's definitely still lots of misleading information out there.
